My first astrology teachers were the traditionalists, William Lily, Nicolas Culpeper, Ibn Izra, and many more from the ancient philosophies and medicine men. Later the humanists and soul teachers, the esoterics and now with the vibrational astrological philosophers, the human race, in its divine humility, continues to evolve. Perhaps it will find the way to “see” it’s “right ascension”.
This is Lizzi. RN, Astrologer and Spiritualist Minister.
About Lizzi
The great teacher Plato in “The Republic” explained the human condition as the tripartite soul, which was divided into 3 parts – reason, spirit and appetite.
As a young psychology student and seeker of reparation to broken families; I began the study of psychology with the research of Freud, Skinner and finally Jung. The egoic self that emanated from the former two did not resonate with me in its patriarchal approach. The methods were accusatory, degrading and belittling. Finally, an awareness erupted in me that these methods were intentional with a purpose of “breaking down the psyches” of their patients in the “hopes” that the patient would see the “light” and mend their recalcitrant beliefs and behaviors The problem with these methods is that it “assumed” that being “human” was wrong.
Then along came Jung, once Freud’s student and colleague and the first to “break through” to the archetypal side of humanity. The black and white (or gray and white) world of Freud the egoist, and Skinner the behavioralist suddenly broke into color. Like the crystal prism of a sunbeam diversifying the light by birthing the greens and reds and purples and blues and yellows, Jung described the principles of archetypes. Although Jung categorized the archetypes into 4 groups – persona, self, anime and shadow – many other subdivisions arose. The self then expresses these subgroups of archetypes through a series of energetic centers throughout the body.
The Vedics (1500-500 BC) called this the chakra system. The system of “spinning wheels” or energy centers contained in well over 100 centers of the human give the ability to utilize the expressed differences of each unique human on earth. Jung further revolutionized this principle in his method of archetypal expression by bringing spirituality to physicality. The nous (the intellect or reason) and the soul could then unite, evolve, grow, heal and express itself through its own purity, its own happiness, its own humility. Without the nous, the concept of physical and psychological reality could not survive or be understood.
The great teacher Plato in his “Republic” explained the human condition as the tripartite soul, which was divided into 3 parts – reason, spirit and appetite.
Reason – the nous, seeks the rationale – it is the task of the mind.
Spirit – who seeks honor and humility and
Appetite – which resolves to the norm of the physical.
And so was my original search of the psyche, of the souls journey.
During those years a young astrologer was giving a talk on a soul wisdom approach to understanding humanity. I found the resonance of Plato, and of Jungs’ word in a highly vibratory state at that time and I “knew” this was the path to the truth.
Plato and Carl Jung have been my mentors throughout life after first exposure as a young psychology student. I knew I could use my intellect to ascertain the methods I would use, to bring my spirit to the “appetite” so that the soul that initiated the anime, the shadow, the persona and eventually the self could express its wisdom and humility and honor in human form. These masters ultimately steered my studies to astrology when it “rocked my world”. The soul enters earth. The natives chart is the map it chooses to follow for its current lessons.
Through its glyphs and symbols all cut out from the Cosmos of source, were the answers, the solutions for human and soul-self evolution necessary to live ones life.
